Splash pads and water play

Barrier Free Park, 3111 S. Congress Ave., the city’s all-abilities park, has a spray-ground and a “stream bed” with spray misters that children and adults can climb through. It is open sunrise to sunset, according to the city’s Tour Our Parks guide.

The nearest county splash park is John Prince Memorial Park, 2520 Lake Worth Road, Lake Worth, inside the park’s accessible playground. It is open year-round, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday and Friday, weather permitting, according to the county’s splash parks page.

The beach

Oceanfront Park, 6415 N. Ocean Blvd., is open every day, sunrise to 9 p.m., with lifeguards 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Parking is $3.50 an hour. Sea turtle nesting season runs to Oct. 31: fill in holes and keep lights off near the beach at night (park page).

Summer at the library

The City Library’s summer reading program starts with a kickoff party; in 2026 it was 5 p.m. Friday, June 5 (2026 listing), and the summer closed with a foam party on July 31. 2027 dates are not out yet.

Heat and water safety

  • Check the National Weather Service in Miami for heat advisories before a long day outdoors.
  • Drowning is the second leading cause of death in children under 12, the city’s pool page notes. Swim near a lifeguard and watch children in and near water at all times.

What this means for you

  • Register for camp the day it opens; both city camps filled in 2026.
  • The pool is closed Sundays and Mondays.
  • For splash play, try Barrier Free Park’s spray-ground or John Prince Park in Lake Worth.
